Online treatment for AIDS afflicted at www.amfar.org

Philadelphia, Nov 20

A nonprofit group dedicated to AIDS research launched a new website that promises the latest information on approved and experimental HIV therapies to members of the public as well as medical professionals.

The American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) HIV/AIDS Treatment Directory went online at http://www.amfar.org/td with a searchable database of clinical studies of experimental HIV/AIDS therapies intended to provide alternatives to approved treatment options.

"The clinical study search function enables doctors as well as patients to find the most appropriate trials of experimental drugs by anonymously entering CD4+ counts, viral loads, geographical location, or specific condition," said Kevin Robert Frost, amfAR's director of clinical research and information.

The print version of the amfAR HIV/AIDS Treatment Directory has been a leading source of treatment information since it first appeared in 1985.
