Finger length - a pointer to sexual
orientation
A person's sexual orientation as
an adult is determined by his or her early life in the
womb.
This was found by the researchers from the
University of California at Berkely. Scientist Marc
Breedlove and his colleagues observed that a person's
fingers could point to his sexual orientation.
In women, the index finger is about the
same lengh as the ring finger. In men, the ring finger is
considerablely longer that the index finger. This
difference in the finger lenghs in both the sexes in
apparent from the infancy. It is determined by the levels
of male hormones the foetus is exposed during its
development in the womb. The study concludes that the
homosexuality is partly due to higher levels of prenatal
testosterone in both men and women. Breedlove stresses
that fetal hormones alone donot determine sexuality.
Thus a rough measure of finger lengths in
relation to sexual orientation is :-
Ring finger longer than the index
finger :
Women -- Lesbian
Men -- Heterosexual
Both fingers the same length :
Women -- Heterosexual
Men -- Gay
