| AIDS is the leading
killer disease in Africa. It has killed more people than
any other infectious disease. AIDS is responsible for One death in Five in Africa. There are 23 million carriers of HIV virus in Africa. AIDS tops the list of Killer diseases in Africa accounting for 19 % of total deaths. AIDS has also become the 4th main cause of death in the world. In 1997 it was listed in 7th place.
